Sheppey singer Jace Carreira ruffles feathers on BBC TV show All Together Now

A singer has angered fellow panellists, including ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, on Saturday night TV talent show All Together Now.

Jace Carreira, from Minster on the Isle of Sheppey, and younger brothers Alfie-J and Dieu, who make up R'n'B boy band Carreira 3, are among a panel of 100 showbiz judges.

But the lads refused to join the other 97 to support four-piece male harmony group Xavier.

Jace popped into the KM office. This is what he had to say

The others all stood up and sang along on the BBC One music programme, in which the winner gets £50,000.

But 28-year-old Jace admitted: "We had a lot of criticism from the other judges after that show, including Geri, and on Twitter when we didn't stand up.

"We were the only three. But I stick to my decision.

"I am the lead singer of our band. For me, it takes a lead singer to take the harmonies to the next level and Xavier didn't have that."

Former Ginger Spice was so angry she challenged the lads on air. "I want to hear you three sing," she demanded.

The trio replied: "Any time, any place, anywhere."

Comedian and host Rob Beckett had to wade in, telling the other judges: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Don't pick on my band mates."

At least the lads remained consistent. They didn't leave their seats even when fellow Islander Alex-Nicole Jamieson took to the stage to perform.

This time they weren't alone. Only 17 stood up.

Jace said: "I was really surprised to see someone from Sheppey on the show. We don't get to see any of the contestants beforehand.

"It can be quite daunting but she did what she could.

"It was not the best performance, to be honest, but she took the result well and was a credit to the Island."

So why didn't they stand up to support her? Jace said: "It's hard to please everyone but we had to maintain our credibility."

Ex-Spice Girl Geri, who is reforming the girl group, told Alex-Nicole: "You should be in a girl band."

Alex-Nicole, 20, from Minster, replied: "I used to be in a girl band but I left to go solo."

Geri asked: "Would you ever consider reuniting?"

Host Rob Beckett piped up: "Are you trying to plug your own reunion?"

Alex-Nicole was in girl band Sweet Chix and auditioned for Britain's Got Talent.

Jace and his brothers have toured with Lemar, N-Dubz and Tinie Tempah as Nicole Jane but have since rebranded themselves as Carreira 3.

Producers Endemol heard them and asked them to audition for the show which is filmed in Manchester.

On Monday, Jace was in Sittingbourne at the Big Jam studios putting the finishing touches to the group's new five-track EP Kin-Dom which will be released shortly.

Previous videos for the band's songs have been shot on the Island.

London-born Jace admitted: "I had no idea where Sheppey was until we were touring the county as part of a kmfm schools radio roadshow in association with Kent Police.

"I first saw a sign for Sheerness on the M2 and decided to explore. Since moving here, I have come to love the Island."
