Two year groups from a primary school on the Island have been forced to close just a week after reopening.

Youngsters in Year 4 and Year 5 at St Georges Church of England Primary School in Minster have now been advised to self isolate for 10 days.

The Year 5 bubble had a confirmed case of Covid-19 on Wednesday, March 10, and will remain in isolation until Saturday, March 20.

While the Year 4 children had a positive case last Friday and will have to isolate until March 22.

A letter from head teacher Howard Fisher said: “Household members should not go to work, school or public areas and exercise should be taken within the home.

“Household members staying at home for 10 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community.”

Children, who only returned to school on Monday, March 8, will be able to access online learning to keep on track.
