Sheppey couple say new business Historic Racing Simulators offers 'one-of-a-kind experience'

A couple have fitted out a motorhome with a racing simulator to offer car enthusiasts a “one-of-a-kind experience”.

Emma and Kevin Llewellyn, who own classic cars themselves, bought a motorhome with the intention of fitting it out with a bespoke simulator and parking up at race tracks for drivers and spectators to practice and enjoy.

But, because the coronavirus pandemic has put paid to such sporting events, the couple thought they’d set up their business – Historic Racing Simulators – at their Harty home, on Sheppey.

Emma said: “Due to what’s happened this year, no-one’s been able to go out in their cars or go to any racing events so we thought we’d set something like this up - it’s something different.

“The idea is people can practice driving different cars or circuits from all over the world.

“Some people do track days in their own cars and don’t know the circuits, so they can practice using the simulator, for example, while others who have never driven a racing car can give it a try.”

Drivers can choose what they race in from a Ferrari 330 P4 or an Aston Martin DBR1 to a Ford GT40 or a Formula One car to name a few. They can also pick from a range of prestigious circuits, such as Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Monaco and Le Mans in France.

Emma said: “We’re offering a one-of-a-kind experience. Now, people don’t have to own a legend to drive like one because we’re allowing them to live the dream and experience what Mike Hawthorn, Ken Miles and Fangio did through their racing careers.

"With the simulator being inside our motorhome too, it gives the experience of being parked in a racing paddock.”

The 46-year-old added: “Coming up for Christmas, it’ll be a great gift for someone.

"It’s something different to do and can be done within the Government’s Covid guidelines.”

The experience is suitable for those aged 17 and above. Individual and group bookings are available seven days a week, by appointment only.
