Gil Carvalho has completed an Isthmian Premier move after leaving Sheppey.
Forward Carvalho, 28, a São Tomé and Príncipe international, arrives at Welling as part of new boss Lee Martin’s rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
He says he will be out to excite the fans as the Wings revealed the capture of Carvalho on Tuesday.
“I’m buzzing to be signed at a club like Welling,” he said. “It’s great to be here.
“It’s been a good couple of seasons for me at Sheppey so it’s all about consistency and I want to do that at this level, as well.
“My strengths are my one-v-one ability, I excite the fans and get bums off seats - goals and assists.
“I’m efficient at what I do and that’s what the fans will see.”
Martin added: “I’m really pleased to have secured Gil.
“He arrives after an impressive season and has a strong desire to prove himself at this level which, again, played a crucial role in our selection process.
“His individual skills are outstanding and he has the potential to be a matchwinner on his day. He’s always a threat with the ball at his feet.
“He will be an essential asset for us as we aim to remain progressive in our play.”
Carvalho came through the Tonbridge Academy before he signed for Sittingbourne in 2017.
After a year with the Brickies, he then joined Corinthian-Casuals before representing Ramsgate, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, Hastings United and Ashford United over the following four seasons.
Carvalho made the switch to Ramsgate in 2023 and joined Herne Bay for the 2023/24 campaign. He then returned to Sittingbourne for the 2024/25 season, only to promptly depart again.
He netted 14 times for Sheppey - including getting a hat-trick in a 4-2 Velocity Cup win at Margate in late November - in the 2024/25 season.
Carvalho played for São Tomé and Príncipe in the 2022 summer.
