The Southern Counties East Football League are investigating an altercation that was shared on social media after Sheppey United's win at Corinthian.
A video emerged of players jostling in the car park but it's understood there were unsavoury incidents in the club bar at the Gay Dawn Farm venue leading up to that. Sheppey had won Saturday's match 4-3, with two stoppage-time goals.
Prior to Sheppey's late goals, Corinthian's Chris Kinnear was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Connor Wilkins. Visiting striker Warren Mfula was also dismissed for his reaction to the challenge. Referee Richard Joss also showed six yellow cards during the afternoon.
Tempers flared off the pitch and spilled out into the car park, leading the league to issue a statement.
It said: "The league have been made aware of the alleged post-match incidents following the Premier Division fixture between Corinthian and Sheppey United on October 17.
"An investigation is now under way and the league will not comment further at this stage.
"Our league is totally against any abuse, whether physical or verbal, and will not condone any such behaviour.
"This is a suitable opportunity to remind all clubs in both divisions that the game is here to be enjoyed and to be played in the right spirit and everyone within the league from players to managers to officials to spectators should ensure this remains the case."
Sheppey manager Ernie Batten said: "When tactics and gamesmanship go beyond the spirit of the game it takes away any real enjoyment or meaning."
Speaking about his player's dismissal, he said: "I warned our players before the game what it would be like and told them not to react. But when you are goaded and accused of things it is only human nature unfortunately and it is very difficult not to react. The referees have a difficult job and I just don't understand why they don't deal with the barracking when it is going on."
The Sheppey manager doesn't believe any of his players did anything to have provoked the scenes that took place.
Corinthian Football Club declined to comment until details have been comfirmed.
Sheppey won the match after coming from 3-2 down, Danny Leonard levelling and Jack Midson scoring with a backheel to win the game in the 11th minute of stoppage-time.
