Four-goal Dan Bradshaw helps lead Sheppey to convincing victory at K Sports

Four goals from Dan Bradshaw helped guide Sheppey to a 7-1 victory at K Sports on Saturday.

Bradshaw struck twice in either half, while Harrison Carnegie, Danny Leonard and substitute Hicham Akhazzan were also on target for the Ites who moved second in the Southern Counties East table.

Ernie Batten’s men broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 13th minute. Defender Ashley Cooper was ruled to have fouled Leonard, with Bradshaw making no mistake.

Six minutes later, Sheppey doubled their advantage when Carnegie drilled past K Sports keeper Jack Howard after Billy Bennett’s through ball.

But the hosts quickly reduced the deficit in the 23rd minute, as Jordan Ababio scored.

Matt Gething then was presented with a golden opportunity to restore parity, only for Sheppey keeper Josh Pelling to deny the striker.

The visitors restored their two-goal lead, six minutes before the break. Leonard slotted home to cap a fine solo run.

Following a quiet start to the second period, Bradshaw sealed a seventh successive win for the Ites with a quick-fire double. He netted Sheppey’s fourth in the 71st minute, before completing his hat-trick with a close-range finish 10 minutes from time.

Things went from bad to worse on 85 minutes for K Sports when they conceded a sixth. Omotumise Akanni was adjudged to have fouled Akhazzan, leading to Bradshaw scoring his fourth from the spot as he moved on to 24 league goals for the season.

Akhazzan got on the scoresheet in the final minute of normal time when he arrived late at the back post.
