Police called to 'cannabis factory' at Bobbing near Sittingbourne

A 'giant cannabis factory' was discovered in Bobbing this morning.

Police officers were called to a premises off the Sheppey Way at Bobbing near Sittingbourne where they made the discovery.

An eye-witness said: "There is a lot of police activity near the Dancing Dog pub in Bobbing where they have found a giant cannabis factory. Cops and forensics are there at present."

Police have since confirmed they found more than 700 plants at various stages of development in an industrial unit.

Officers were first called to the site yesterday evening at 6.30pm.

A police spokesman said: "We were initially called to reports that two men, who were carrying bags, had been seen acting suspiciously in the area.

"Two men, matching the description of the suspects, were located following a search of the area. A short time after their arrest, the cultivation was uncovered."

Both men, who are aged 38 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and remain in custody as inquiries continue.

At least two police cars could be seen outside the premises earlier today.
