Smoke billowed across the A249 near Sittingbourne today from a blazing lorry trailer.
The vehicle, carrying rubbish, caught alight on the busy road at Keycol at about 8.45am.
Thick smoke poured across the south-bound carriageway during rush-hour traffic.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said two crews and a bulk water carrier were sent to the scene.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a hydrant to tackle the blaze.
