A head-on smash between a bus and a car – where the driver had to be cut out – sparked a huge emergency response.
An air ambulance landed at the scene of the accident in Staplehurst Road, Bobbing, between Sonora Way and Windmill Road at about 8pm yesterday (November 26).
The female car driver was taken to hospital while the bus driver from Chalkwell Coach Hire is said to be unharmed but shaken up, according to the firm’s boss.
Explaining CCTV footage will be reviewed in the coming days, Roland Eglington added: “We have had a bus involved in a head-on collision with a car this evening on the B2006 Bobbing link-road.
“The lady driving the car has been cut out of the vehicle and taken to hospital.
“We understand that there were no customers on the bus at the time of the collision.
"We are lucky the driver appears to be okay and we very much hope the driver of the other vehicle is not too badly injured.
"It is a horrible thing to happen."
The emergency services were at the scene, with police and paramedics in attendance.
An air ambulance was also seen landing in Milton Recreation Ground nearby at around 8pm.
A spokeswoman for the police confirmed a woman had reported serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening and was taken to a London hospital.
Officers blocked off part of the road but it was reopened by 9.30pm.
