Man arrested after stabbing in Sittingbourne

An arrest has been made after a man was airlifted to hospital following a stabbing.

A man in his 50s was assaulted in Romney Court, Sittingbourne and is now in a serious condition in a London hospital.

Officers investigating the incident have arrested a man and are appealing for witnesses.

A spokesman said: "Police were called at around 9.55pm on Thursday, August 18, to a report that a man had suffered an injury consistent with a stab wound.

"The victim, who is in his 50s, is reported to have been assaulted by someone known to him during a disturbance inside a residential address in Romney Court.

"Following the incident he returned to his home in the Milton Regis area before an ambulance was called."

Officers carried out inquiries to locate a suspect and at around 8.20am and arrested a 28-year-old man who remains in custody.

Detective inspector, Peter Smith, said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything in relation to this incident or has any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell camera footage that may assist the investigation."
