Police officers take to Twitter over obstacle found on Sittingbourne road

Police officers were left unravelling a mystery as to how a large cable spool ended up in the centre of a road.

The traffic hazard, discovered early this morning in Sittingbourne was labelled as "very dangerous" by Cllr James Hunt, for The Meads ward, on Twitter.

He told police: "I hope you get a lead on it. Very dangerous though and I hope it caused no accidents."

Officers labelled the incident as "not acceptable" on social media and said the obstacle had been removed.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: "Kent Police was called at around 3.50am on Sunday 20 September following the discovery of a large cable spool in the middle of the road in East Street, Sittingbourne.

"Officers attended and removed the object.
