Coronavirus: Swale council say rubbish collections are delayed

All forms of waste collection from households in Faversham, Sittingbourne and Sheppey are now delayed or suspended.

Swale Borough Council says that there are hold-ups for green and blue waste, garden compost and for clinical and electrical items.

Bookings to take away bulky collections have been temporarily suspended.

The authority say it is all part of the impact on everyday life from the coronavirus pandemic and said if your bin has been missed in an expected collection, leave it outside and it will be emptied as soon as possible.

Kent County Council closed all its tips last Tuesday.

This is the latest in a number of actions taken by the authority as the crisis grows.
