Three fire engines were called after a car blaze on a motorway this afternoon.

It happened on the M2 coastbound between Junctions 5 and 6, just after the exit for Sittingbourne, at around 1:30pm.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus attended and used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause is believed to have been accidental but is not yet known.
