Kemsley motorist crashed car into parked vehicle in McDonald’s car park in Bobbing as he went to get burger was three times the legal limit

A motorist who crashed his car into a parked vehicle in a fast-food restaurant’s car park as he went to get a burger was found to be three times the legal limit.

Ryan Webster was at the wheel of a white Ford C-Max when he smashed into a vehicle in the McDonald’s car park at Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, on January 30.

The 34-year-old was arrested at the scene after failing a roadside breath test and was later charged with drink-driving.

Webster, of Clerke Drive, Kemsley, admitted the offence when he appeared in the dock at Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 20.

The court heard when given further breath tests back at the police station, he gave a reading of 104 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

James Nichols, prosecuting, said: “Police were called out at 8pm to reports a vehicle has crashed into another vehicle in the McDonald’s car park.

“He was arrested and later blew 104 in breath. He’s of previous good character.”

Defending himself, Webster told magistrates he had been going through a difficult time when the offence happened.

He said: “There is no legal reason. I was going through difficult stuff at home with my daughter and I was not coping very well. It’s uncharacteristic of me.”

The court also heard Webster works as a senior project manager in the water industry.

The chairman of the bench told him that he gave a really high reading and was three times the legal drink-drive limit.

As a result, the bench banned him from the road for 24 months and placed him on a 12-month community order which will see him carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and £85 court costs and if Webster completes a drink-driving course, his ban will be reduced by 24 weeks.
