Mound of mud blocks part of Coldharbour Lane in Bobbing, near Sittingbourne

A huge mound of soil has been dumped in a country lane, blocking the road.

The mountain of mud was found in Coldharbour Lane, Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, this morning.

It was discovered by Lance Morgan, of Newington Cricket Club, whose ground is located in the lane.

He said: "I got there at about 10.30am and there was some hardcore and soil in the road near the club.

"The only thing we had was a fork so I used that to clear it.

"While I was there a cyclist came along and said: 'There’s a bigger load blocking the road further down. You won’t clear that with a fork.'

"I went and had a look and it was completely blocking the road.

"It's not the first time the roads near here have been blocked."

Mr Morgan informed Swale council and was told the matter would be passed to Kent County Council, which is responsible for roads.

The tipped waste was mainly soil, which now costs £4 a bag to take to KCC tips.

The new charges came into force at the beginning of this month.

Many people warned that charging for such waste would lead to an increase in fly-tipping.
