One of the sheds, which measured 30 metres by 20 metres and made out of wood, stored tools, lawn mowers and drying wood.

The other was metal. A third shed, which was at risk but did not catch alight, had chickens stored in there.

Crews from Sittingbourne, Chatham and Rainham had to use breathing apparatus and hoses to bring it under control and put the fire out.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed no casualties were reported and they had left by 4.20am.

The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.
