Crash on the M2 involving two vans, two lorries and a car

Motorists faced long delays on the M2 after an accident involving two vans, two lorries and a car.

The crash happened on the London-bound carriageway between junction 5 the Stockbury Roundabout and junction 4 for Gillingham.

One lane was closed, causing long delays on the M2 to junction 5 for Faversham and on the A249 southbound from Kemsley.

A crash on the Maidstone-bound A249 near the Bobbing turn-off also caused long delays heading back towards Sheppey.

Witnesses have described traffic in Medway also being heavily affected, with the A2 and Lower Rainham Road also facing delays.

Highways traffic officers and Kent Police are on the scene.

Kent Police was called at 5.56am and arrived at the scene with ambulance crews.

No serious injuries have been reported.

All lanes have been reopened.
