A man from Sittingbourne has hit the bullseye after holding a 24-hour charity darts marathon.
Ted Hannaford, of Cavell Way, saw more than £450 fly in from Saturday’s event at The Kings Head in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Half of the money came in from 20p fines for swearing and scoring less than 26 with three darts.
Mayor of Swale Cllr Anita Walker threw the first dart, with John James sending the 100,000th dart to the board, Daryl Cornelius taking hold of the 200,000th dart and the final 250,000th dart thrown by the pub’s landlady Heidi Dixon.
Highest individual scores were made by Claire Glover with 152 points scored and Daryl Corneilus and Paul Smiff with 180.
Ted, who is 75, organised the event on behalf of his wife Rita, 67, who died in June from lung cancer.
For years the couple managed a number of fundraising events.
Ted said: “You don’t know how much it all meant to me, especially since my wife died, it was absolutely superb and we’re hoping to do it again next year.”
