Harry Potter star Chris Rankin, who played Percy Weasley, to play Wizard of Oz at Sittingbourne pantomime

The actor who played Percy Weasley in Harry Potter is among a line-up due to take to the stage in Sittingbourne this Christmas.

The Wizard of Oz has been announced as the pantomime to be held this year at the Swallow’s Leisure Centre in Central Avenue.

Chris Rankin, who played one of Ron Weasley's brothers, will take on the role of The Wizard of Oz.

Alongside him as Dorothy will be Melissa Suffield, who is best known for playing EastEnder’s Lucy Beale.

Producer Kevin Brown said: “The Wizard of Oz promises magic, music and laughter by the bucket load.

“We’ve got a fantastic family pantomime for all the family and we can't wait for Christmas time in Sittingbourne.

“We’ve been producing the Sittingbourne pantomime since 2012 and each year the show gets bigger and better.”

Also featuring in the production will be The X Factor’s Soheila Clifford, playing the evil Wicked Witch of the West.

The show will also feature performances from the Kent School of Dance.

The Wizard of Oz runs from Sunday, December 15, to Tuesday, December 24, at The Swallows Leisure Centre in Sittingbourne. For more information and to book tickets, visit www.sittingbournepanto.co.uk.
