Accident on M2 causes delays between Sittingbourne and Faversham

All lanes have reopened on the M2 after a lorry is believed to have ploughed through the central reservation.

The crash happened at about 12.45pm on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone and Junction 6 for Faversham.

A police spokesman said: "It was reported that a lorry had gone through the central reservation barrier before coming to a stop on the London-bound carriageway.

"The lorry has been located on the London-bound hard shoulder."

He said a rolling road block had to be enforced on the London-bound carriageway to allow the safe recovery of the lorry.

"At present, no injuries have been reported," he added.
