The officers turned off the A249 and re-joined to travel in the opposite direction. They then pulled into the layby, spoke with the driver and carried out a search, which uncovered an unknown amount of suspected cocaine.

The man, from Sittingbourne, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply.

He has since been released pending further inquiries.
