A new takeaway is set to open in a former pizza place.
The building in West Street, Sittingbourne - which used to be Papa John’s - is set to be taken over by another food franchise.
The name of the franchise has not been disclosed but what is known is that it already has branches in Gravesend and Bexley.
MH Businesses is agent for the firm and told KentOnline that it is set to spend between £75,000 and £100,000 revamping the unit which has been empty since the summer.
It said the new eatery will be a “fried and peri peri chicken and burgers takeaway”.
Lease contract talks are ongoing with Harrison Chartered Surveyors. The estate agent is renting the property for £20,000 a year.
The lease is expected to be finalized within the next four weeks.
MH Businesses hopes to have the takeaway open between the end of April and mid-May.
Papa John’s quit the town as it said the site was “underperforming” and was “no longer finically viable”.
The news comes just days after KentOnline revealed plans had been submitted for a takeaway at the former Donna’s Ale House also in West Street.
Both businesses will join Charcoal Grill, Super Pizza and Happy Chef which are all on the same strip.
On weekends, the area is popular with punters who visit the nearby The Vineyard pub, Wetherspoons and Ypres Bar and Lounge.
