Pothole problem closes M2 lane

Police have closed a lane on the M2 after motorists reported a large pothole damaging their vehicles.

The lane has been closed between junction 5 and 6 to allow repairs to the road to take place.

Earlier a motorist contacted KentOnline to say 'lots of cars' had pulled over to change their tyres after hitting the pothole.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We have closed a lane on the M2 coastbound, between junctions 5 and 6, due to a pothole.

"The reports were received at 4.45pm on Saturday 1 December and the closure has been enforced to ensure safety.

"No injuries have been reported."

Earlier this year we reported how Kent County Council had used a loophole to reject a third of pothole damage complaints.
