Homes in Sittingbourne have been left without electricity this morning after a fault.

More than 2,660 customers were hit in the St Laurence Close, Bapchild, area at 10.48am but power to the majority was restored swiftly.

There are 278 properties still affected in the ME9 8 and ME9 9 areas of the town.

According to UK Power Networks, engineers are working to restore the supply.

It is due to overhead electricity equipment having faulted on the high voltage network.

The supplier estimates the power will be restored between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
