A guide to Remembrance Day in and around Sittingbourne 2016

Remembrance Sunday will see ceremonies take place across Sittingbourne and the surrounding villages as people pay their respects to the war dead.

Here’s a list of what is happening and where:

Church of SS Peter and Paul, Borden, 9.45am, parish eucharist followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial taken by the Rev Cindy Kent.

St Bartholomew Church, Bobbing, 10.45am, an informal service of Remembrance will be led by the Rev Sue Samson, team curate for Holy Trinity Sittingbourne with Bobbing.

Church of St Mary the Virgin, Newington, 10am, a service, followed by an Act of Remembrance at 11am, will be taken by lay reader Lis Willmet.

St Mary the Virgin, Upchurch, 10.15am, a service will be taken by Rev Julian Staniforth and the Rev Amanda Lane, with an Act of Remembrance at 11am.

Church of St Michael and All Angels, Hartlip, 10.15am, a service and Act of Remembrance at 11am will be taken by lay reader George Hulme.

St Margaret’s Church, Lower Halstow, 10.30 am, a service will be taken by Alan Swift with Rev Mark Ham.

All Saints’ Church, Iwade, 10.45am, a service with an Act of Remembrance at 11am, will be led by Rev Captain Stephen Plumb.

Holy Trinity, Milton Regis, 10am, a service will be taken by the Rev George Rogers, followed by a wreath-laying at the memorial in the church grounds.

All Saints Church, Murston, 10am, Dianne Smith will take a service with an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial outside the church at 11am.

War Memorial, Central Avenue, Sittingbourne, from 10.30am for 10.50am, a service will be led by Pat Tatchell, chaplain to the Sittingbourne and Milton branch of the Royal British Legion.

After the service Swale mayor, Cllr Lesley Ingham, will take a salute as the parade marches past the front of the police station in Central Avenue.

St Giles Church, Tonge, 10.30am, a service will be taken by Anne Holton.

SS Peter and Paul Church, Lynsted, 10.45am, theRev Steve Lillicrap will officiate.

St Laurence Church, Bapchild, 10am for 10.30am, a service will be taken by the Rev Lesley Jones.

Doddington and Newnham War Memorial, 2.50pm for 3pm, a service will be taken by the Rev Richard Birch.
