Crash on M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham

Delays have cleared on the M2 following an earlier crash involving two cars.

It happened on the London-bound side just after junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Maidstone, near the roadworks, at around 8.45am.

Vehicles used the hard shoulder to pass the accident scene.

The road had reopened by 11am.

The ambulance service said two patients were taken to hospital - one with leg injuries and one with arm injuries.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a collision, reported to involve two cars, on an M2 slip road at 8.44am on Friday 6 October 2017. It took place on the junction 5 slip road, London-bound.

"The South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called. At present, no serious injuries have been reported however a woman has been taken to a local hospital.

"Officers currently remain at the scene, where they are conducting ongoing enquiries."
