The watering hole, which opened in the shadow of The Golden Hope Wetherspoon’s more than seven years ago, shut in September.

It was the town centre's first micropub in what had previously been a vape shop.

The proposals to change the site into a takeaway have been lodged by Tahreem Ahmed who is the director of Sittingbourne Fried Chicken Ltd – set up in December.

If given planning permission by Swale council it will face stiff competition from Charcoal Grill, Super Pizza and Happy Chef which are all located on the same strip.

On weekends the area is popular with punters who visit the nearby The Vineyard pub, Wetherspoon’s and Ypres Bar and Lounge.

Swale council is set to make a decision on the proposals by Wednesday, March 19.
