Three people released after Whitstable motorcyclist died in Sittingbourne crash

Three people arrested after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a car have been released.

A 26-year-old Whitstable man died at the scene after his Honda CBR1000 crashed with a blue Citroen C4 Picasso in Swale Way, Sittingbourne, at about 9.45pm on Wednesday.

A second person on the bike was taken to hospital with serious injures, not believed to be life threatening.

Tributes have since been left by friends and family of the young rider who died, who has been named locally as Ryan Rudden.

Following the collision, which happened near the entrance to Milton Creek fishing lakes, three men – aged 18, 23 and 32, and all from Sittingbourne – were each arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A woman, 34, also from the town, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the cause of justice.

This morning, police confirmed the two men, aged 18 and 23, and the 34-year-old woman had been released pending further enquiries.

The 32-year-old man remains in custody.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit want to talk to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the car in the moments before the crash.

A police spokesman added: "In particular, officers would like to talk to anyone who was at the Milton Creek fishing lakes who may have information about the occupants of the car."
