Train services between Sheerness and Sittingbourne cancelled after emergency incident

Trains were cancelled this evening as emergency services dealt with an incident.

Services between Sheerness and Sittingbourne were suspended on the Sheerness line.

Buses had been ordered to operate the route - but services resumed at about 8pm.

There have been unconfirmed reports that a person was injured near a pedestrian bridge at West Minster.

Many school children on their way home from Sittingbourne to Sheppey are reported to have been kept on the train which remained at the bridge for two hours.

Police were tonight guarding a train which was in Sheerness railway station.

A police patrol car was still at the bridge this evening.
