Aaron Smith dies after being hit by motorbike at Sittingbourne funeral

A teenager airlifted to hospital after being hit by a motorbike during a funeral has died, according to tributes on social media.

Aaron Smith, who was married with young children, was injured in Tonge Road, Murston, near Sittingbourne on Thursday morning and flown to King's College Hospital London with serious head injuries.

He is understood to have died last night.

Tributes have been paid to the 17-year-old by his family on Facebook and a Gofundme page has been launched to raise money for his wife and children.

Mr Smith was believed to have been attending the funeral of Bill Rye when the accident happened at 10.40am.

Police say two men aged 24 and 32 have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving without a licence and remain in custody.

The Gofundme page entitled For Aaron says: "We are raising money for his family. He was taken too soon and left behind three babies and a loving wife. We need to do this in his memory."

It has already raised more than £3,600.

Police have yet to confirm the news.

One relative posted: "I'm going to miss you singing to me Aaron. I still can't believe it."

And another said: "Can't believe dear little Aaron Smith gone. Love him. Always loved listening to him sing and play guitar. Always would help anybody. A lovely young fella and old-fashioned boy."
