'Fighting' women arrested at Sittingbourne train station

By John Nurden

Two women have been arrested after a 'disturbance' at Sittingbourne train station last night.

Officers from British Transport Police were called at about 11pm.

Both women were arrested for assaulting a police officer and one was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

A spokesman for BTP said: "It was another busy night for the night shift with officers dealing with several incidents as well as arrests through the night."

He added: "Alcohol-related incidents are on the increase on the lead-up to Christmas.

"Being drunk is not an excuse for committing offences."

The officer was not injured during the attack.
