The visitors have won their last three and Blackburn knows his team will be up against it.

He said: “It will be a tough game, they have been flying and they have not lost many (just two defeats in their last 16 league outings). I understand they are a good solid team at this level, round pegs in round holes, they work hard and we will have to fight for every second.”

Sittingbourne are six points off the play-off places, beating Hythe Town 2-1 last time out.

Blackburn will hope his team’s good home form continues, where they have been beaten only once in 11 league outings.

“Home form has been superb,” said the manager. “We have only lost once at home all season to Cray Valley 6-0 with the spine of our side about as unbalanced as it has been, we struggled but gave it a go.”

Sittingbourne went 2-0 up against Hythe on Saturday with goals from Harry Stannard and Taylor Fisher just before the break and maintained that lead until Alex Brown scored from a free-kick on 90 minutes for the lowly visitors.

It was a relief for Blackburn as they bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Phoenix Sports the week before.

Blackburn commented: “We are hanging on in there, a bit like boxer on the ropes, we take a few punches but then we manage to come back out swinging and I am proud of the boys for that.

“When you lose one you are then thinking you don't want to lose two or three in a row and we have managed to avoid that all season.”
