Experienced footballer Andy Drury has returned home to Sittingbourne.

The 36-year-old attacking midfielder began his career with the Brickies but went onto play for the likes of Stevenage, Luton Town, Ipswich Town and Crawley Town.

He’s been welcomed back by Sittingbourne chairman Maurice Dunk, who said: “Andy Drury had always wanted to return to his hometown club and the opportunity had arisen for him to sign from his current club, Havant & Waterlooville.

“We are very pleased to have him and I know that our supporters will be over the moon with the news.”

He’s the second of last season’s Havant team to return to pay for his hometown club, with Drury’s old team-mate Danny Kedwell signing on for Hollands & Blair .

After leaving Sittingbourne back in 2003, Drury featured for Gravesend & Northfleet and then won promotion to the Football League with Stevenage and won the FA Trophy with them too.

Ipswich Town shelled out £150,000 for his services after a good spell with Luton Town. He returned to Luton for another six-figure feel after three seasons away, including time at Crawley.

In more recent times he has been at Eastleigh and then Havant.

He was most recently playing in Kent for Ebbsfleet - but he left Stonebridge Road last summer to join Havant .

He’s likely to make his competitive return for Sittingbourne this Saturday in their FA Cup preliminary round tie against Deal Town.

Drury has already featured in a friendly against the club's reserves and will also feature in tonight's (Tuesday) home friendly against Harlow Town.
