James Hawkins clocks the fastest time as the Wigmore CC Evening 10 Time Trial returns

Gemini club rider James Hawkins pipped two others to win last week’s Wigmore CC Evening 10 Time Trial.

Hawkins was one of three riders to complete the Iwade circuit, known as the Q10/20, in under 23 minutes.

He clocked a time of 22:42 mins over the 10 mile course and was closely followed by Martin Jones of Colour Tech at 22:45 and Neil Harrigan also of Gemini at 22:51.

Last Wednesday’s event, hosted by Wigmore Cycling Club, had a nearly full field of 28 riders out of a possible 30, completing five laps of the circuit.

This was one of the first time trials since racing could re-commence and the attendance showed a lot of interest after such a long suspension of events.

Many riders have been riding indoors using turbos, which run off or replace the rear wheel. This has helped many keep their fitness up, but many riders confirmed there is nothing quite like the real thing.

The next Evening 10 will be staged this Wednesday.
