A ROBBER threatened to cut the throat of an 18-year-old shop assistant during a raid at a store.

Police have appealed for help in their hunt for the man who struck at Threshers in the high street at Tenterden, near Ashford.

The robber, who claimed he had a knife, escaped with cigarettes and what police describe as a “substantial” amount of cash.

The teenager behind the counter was left shocked by the ordeal and may not return to his job.

Manager Richard Caister said: “He was very shaken up by it and he doesn’t know whether he can face coming back.”
