Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver after a pedestrian was knocked down and taken to a London hospital by the air ambulance.
Officers are seeking witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage following the collision in Canterbury Road in Westbrook, Margate, at 9pm on Monday.
The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage, to identify the driver of the vehicle involved.
“Anyone who has any information regarding the incident, or who has private CCTV or dashcam footage which might assist, should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 , quoting reference 46/70569/25.”
Emergency crews were at the scene in Westbrook, Margate, just before 9pm yesterday.
Witnesses on social media say a man was hit by a car, which did not stop, on the A28 Canterbury Road between Hatfield Road and Westbrook Road.
The air ambulance took the patient to King’s College Hospital in London.
The road was taped off but has now reopened.
A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: “We were called shortly before 9pm to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Canterbury Road in Margate.
“Crews assessed and treated one patient at the scene before being joined by The Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex, who airlifted the patient to King’s College Hospital in London for further medical treatment.”
