Armed police have been seen with firearms in a residential street this morning after a man was reported to have been spotted with a weapon.

They were called to Augustine Road in Minster at 9.15am.

One resident said: "There was quite a big police presence down here in a narrow place.

"It didn't last for long but it was quite panicky wondering what was going on.

"I saw a couple of policemen with guns."

A police spokesman said: "Armed officers attended the scene but quickly established there was no man inside.

"A single female occupant was spoken to and confirmed to be safe and well."

A cordon that had been put in place around the property has now been lifted and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the report are ongoing.
