Armed police in Marine Terrace, Margate after Ramsgate raid

Armed police have descended on a seaside town after a robbery.

Police were called just before 2pm to reports of a raid at a commercial premises in Newington Road, Ramsgate.

Witnesses reported a weapon was seen during the incident.

A quantity of cash was allegedly stolen, but no injuries were reported.

Police officers, supported by the firearms unit, rushed to Marine Terrace in Margate where they arrested a man just after 3pm in connection with the robbery.

He has been taken into custody.

Patrols remain in place at both Newington Road in Ramsgate and Marine Terrace in Margate, while enquiries continue.

No weapon has been recovered.
