Boy charged with attempted murder after Ashley Grainger stabbed in Ramsgate

A boy has been charged on suspicion of attempted murder after a young man was stabbed in his neck and shoulders.

Police were called to Harbour Street, Ramsgate, at about 3am on May 12, where they found Ashley Grainger in his 20s had been stabbed during a serious assault.

He was rushed to King's College Hospital in London for treatment, and an investigation was launched by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

A 17-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with the incident on Tuesday.

He was yesterday charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, and violent disorder.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was remanded in custody, and appeared at Margate Magistrates' Court today.

He was again remanded in custody, and is set to appear before court again on September 16.

Between Wednesday, August 7, and Monday, August 12, seven other teenagers were charged with violent disorder and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Those facing the charges include Ramsgate 19-year-olds Joshua Roberts, of Chilton Lane, Ashley Dorsett, of Argyll Drive, and Kieran Day, of Dane Crescent.

Two 18-year-olds from Margate - Jaden Cashin, of Beatrice Road, and Harry Ousley of Mere Gate - have also been charged, along with Casey Carter, 18, of Beach Walk in Broadstairs and a 17-year-old from Cliftonville.

Isaac Roberts, of South Eastern Road, Ramsgate, was charged with violent disorder and actual bodily harm.

All eight have been released from custody and will next appear at Margate Magistrates' Court on September 12.
