Police closed the A28 in both directions following a car fire.
The route was shut by the Brooksend service station, in Birchington, due to the vehicle blaze on Sunday.
Traffic was halted from going along the stretch of dual carriageway while fire crews dealt with the incident.
The road was re-opened at around 6pm.
It is not known if anyone was injured during the incident.
