Great British Bake Off semi finalist from Broadstairs Chetna Makan makes prediction for the final

The competition is heating up for Great British Bake Off contestants with the winning chef to be revealed tomorrow night on BBC One.

The finalists are Nadiya Jamir Hussain, Ian Cumming and Tamal Ray.

Last year's semi-finalist Chetna Makan from Broadstairs has chosen the baker she would like to see win and talked about her experiences on the show.

She said: "I think Nadiya will win and it would be nice because I think she has done really well throughout.

"She has shown a lot of different skills and I would like to see her win.

"Tamal is really good but he has had problems with timings which has forced him to rush a few things and shown in the finish of some cakes he has made.

"He is good and is very capable of winning as well - but there will be a lot more pressure on the final and he will have to control his timings.

"Ian is a good baker but I haven't found a spark in him and he has lacked personality throughout the series. But any three can win!"

"I've liked the series - ever since bread week I've been gripped to the whole series.

"I think the only thing missing was banter, it was more competitive and didn't have as many personalities - it wasn't as light-hearted as last year.

"But it is still great and I am really looking forward to the final."

The 37-year-old talked about her own time on the show.

She said: "I am a big fan of the show and I’ve always loved cooking and that’s why I went on. Just taking part was amazing, the whole experience and the pressure all added to it.

"I would do it again if I could and I often say to keen bakers that it is worth applying for. But this year all the finalists have done well and it’s been fun to watch.

"When I watched it the first week it felt like other peo

ple were in our tent. But by the second week I saw a few of them start to stress and I was glad it wasn’t me."

She said life had changed since the show and some of the new bakers had been in touch.

She said: "I am continuously giving recipes and tips. The new bakers on the show have been in touch and I’ve been happy to give them advice.

"I do it myself – preparing for Broadstairs Food Festival, I was in touch with local businesses for advice on how much to prepare because I’d never done an event like that before.

"I have a baking book coming out in April with lots of Indian elements. It’s full of spice! There will be a book launch in London, but I am looking at having one in Broadstairs so friends can attend as well."
