Birchington: Police appeal for witnesses after cigarettes stolen from convenience shop in Station Road

Packets of cigarettes have been stolen from a shop after three offenders jemmied open the shop's front door.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the cigarettes were stolen from a convenience store in Birchington.

Offenders are believed to have broken into the shop in Station Road at about 4.15am today.

Detective Sergeant Brian Doughty said: "Three offenders jemmied open the doors at the front of the store and stole a quantity of cigarettes.

"We believe the offenders had a large builders’ supply-type bag with them.

"They also more than likely had a vehicle parked nearby.

"We are asking anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in the area at the time to contact us.

"We would also like to hear from anyone offered cigarettes for sale."
