Nando's at Westwood Cross in Broadstairs closed due to technical issues

A popular chicken restaurant is closed due to technical issues, leaving customers "gutted".

Nando's at Westwood Cross shopping centre, in Broadstairs, shut on Thursday lunchtime after a system crash.

This has resulted in all the tills shutting down.

The restaurant, which is Afro-Portuguese inspired, has been closed ever since while staff await the arrival of engineers.

A message on Westwood Cross' social media reads:"Please note that due to technical issues Nando's is temporarily closed.

"We will update you when it has reopened."

Similarly a comment from Nando's reads: "Attention PERi-PERi fans!

"Due to unforeseen circumstances we’ve had to close.

"Keep your eyes peeled on our page and we’ll let you know when we are back."

Fans of the chain have reacted to the news on social media with huge disappointment.

One posted on Facebook "there goes my weekend", while another fan said they were "gutted".

One woman revealed it has affected her son's birthday plans, and said she was "really disappointed".

It is expected it will re-open tomorrow, although this has yet to be confirmed.

Other Nando's restaurants in Kent can be found in Canterbury, Ashford, Maidstone and Hempstead Valley.
