Fire crews were called out to Military Road and used poles and specialist rescue tools to swiftly lift the fox back onto solid ground.

The uninjured pup was reunited with a fellow fox who had been sat watching the rescue nearby.

The furry pair then ran off together, back to freedom away from the harbour dangers.

Fire crews worked quickly against the incoming tide, in the dark, to save the exhausted fox.
