Ramsgate: Dead dog found wrapped in dirty plastic sheet on beach

The body of a dead dog has been found wrapped in a dirty plastic sheet on Ramsgate beach.

The grim discovery was made by a member of the public at about 6pm yesterday.

The horrified beachgoer was out for an evening walk when they found a large bundle wrapped in plastic. Closer inspection revealed that the body of a dog was wrapped inside.

RSPCA inspector Claire Carter said: “This is a really upsetting discovery for someone to make and we are very concerned about how this poor dog died and how her body came to be here on the beach.

“The female German Shepherd-cross was predominantly tan coloured, with some black to her fur. She was an adult and looked to be in fair body condition, however at this stage it is very hard for us to tell how she died.

The dog was found wrapped in a plastic sheet on Ramsgate Main Sands.

“The beach is separated into three sections and this dog’s body was discovered in the middle section, an area known to locals as Undercliff.

"I am urging anyone with any information about this dog or who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact me in complete confidence on our inspector’s appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
