Ramsgate man leaves dog's poo on pavement in the High Street outside Holland and Barrett

Shocking video shows the moment a dog owner watches his pet pooing on the pavement in the middle of a town before ignoring and leaving it in the street.

Thanet District Council's enforcement team is sharing the video in a hope to trace the man "to remind them of their duty" to pick up the dog's faeces.

The footage shows the man looking shifty after his pooch fouls on the pavement in Ramsgate High Street before turning around and walking away.

The council is now calling for help in tracking the owner down with the authority's dog warden team keen to speak to the person.

In a tweet, the TDC Enforcement account is urging residents to 'scoop the poop' when out walking with their dogs.

The incident was filmed by CCTV cameras outside the Holland and Barrett store in the town centre on Saturday, March 23 shortly before 4.50pm.

The man was wearing a black jacket and jeans and has long straight black hair and was walking the large black dog.

Perpetrators caught allowing their dog to foul in public and failing to clean it up can be fined £100.

The council says that being unaware of your dog fouling or not having proper way to dispose of it is not an excuse and culprits will be fined.

Anyone with information about the incident is able to contact TDC confidentially by email at sse@thanet.gov.uk or calling 01843 577000.

Alternatively, visit the dog fouling reporting section on the council's website.
