A lucky lottery winner has claimed their £85,000 prize three months after buying the ticket on Bonfire Night.
The slip was bought in Thanet as part of the EuroMillions draw in November, but for many weeks no one came forward.
But today, Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, confirmed it has received a claim for the £84,935.20 prize.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, said: “We are absolutely delighted that this lucky ticket-holder has finally come forward– it's time to set the fireworks off in celebration.
“What an incredible opportunity this life-changing brings.
“It’s now our job to support the ticket-holder through the process – we support each and every National Lottery winner in the same way – and we will do this as quickly as possible to ensure they can very soon begin to enjoy their life-changing win.”
The lucky winner matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star number from their ticket.
This EuroMillions prize claim will now go through the process of validation, which includes checks to ensure the Games Rules Terms and Conditions were adhered so the integrity of The National Lottery is protected.
Once it has been validated, the winner will then be paid their prize money.
Players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.
Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or emailhelp@national-lottery.co.uk.
