The heartbroken families of a Kent couple killed on the Air India flight last week say they are “beyond devastated” and struggling to come to terms with life without them.
Fiongal and Jamie Greenlaw-Meek, aged 45 and 39, ran the Wellness Foundry in Ramsgate and London.
They were two of 53 British passengers on board the Gatwick-bound plane which crashed in Ahmedabad last Thursday.
Earlier this year, Fiongal had appeared on ITV’s This Morning, speaking about their business.
Today, a statement from the pair’s families was read out on the show.
Presenter Cat Deeley opened the episode by saying: "We'd like to start by taking a moment to send our heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of Jamie and Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek, who tragically lost their lives in the Air India crash on Thursday."
Her ITV co-host Ben Shepherd continued: "As more details continue to emerge from the devastating tragedy, their loved ones have asked us to share a statement on their behalf.”
The statement said: “It is with profound sadness and unimaginable heartbreak that we confirm both Jamie and Fiongal were passengers on the Air India flight that tragically crashed in India.
"They were a bright light in so many of our lives, deeply loved as sons, brothers and friends, their warmth, kindness, humour and generous spirits touched everyone who knew them.
“We are all beyond devastated by the news and are struggling to come to terms with the potential of a life without them.
"They would want us to spread positive energy to the world and especially at this time, may peace and love prevail, where there is darkness, spread light, love and laughter."
The presenters then went on to reminisce about the couple’s time on the show, with Ben recalling: “We were lucky enough to spend some time with both of them, Fiongal on the show of course, Jamie behind the scenes."
Cat added: “Yeah, just absolutely charming gentlemen who were so positive.
“I've still got my Palo Santo that he gave me and rosemary that I burn.”
The couple had been on a 10-day retreat in India, with friends saying they enjoyed a “fantastic” time.
A video was posted on social media by Fiongal and Jamie, showing them minutes before boarding the plane as they spoke about their holiday and said: “Goodbye India.”
On Sunday, the couple’s company, The Wellness Foundry, also issued a statement.
“It's with a heavy heart that we share the loss of our beloved Fiongal and Jamie, founder and co-directors of The Wellness Foundry,” it said.
“As their families, friends and our team are still processing the news of this tragedy, our focus is on supporting each other and our community as we navigate this deeply difficult situation.
“Fiongal and Jamie were not only the heart of the company, they were (and still are) deeply loved by our community.
“We are holding them and all affected by this loss in our hearts.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of love, and we will share any updates in due course.
“We ask for privacy for all those concerned during this difficult time.”
On Saturday, Ramsgate Pride held a minute’s silence to remember the couple.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a building used as accommodation for doctors at the Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College and Civil Hospital.
On Monday, doctors in India confirmed 270 bodies had been recovered from the site.
A 40-year-old man sitting in seat 11A is thought to be the only passenger to have survived.
