Seal rescued from Stone Bay beach in Broadstairs by British Divers Marine Life Rescue marine mammal medics

A "feisty" seal was rescued from a beach by marine mammal medics after getting caught behind rocks.

The animal had become stranded at Stone Bay in Broadstairs in the morning, but as it was still stuck after high tide at 3pm, medics from the charity British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) were called in.

They assessed the seal, and as it was in among the rocks on a beach popular with dog walkers the decision was made to lift it and move it to a quieter bay.

BDMLR volunteer Sheila Stone said: "We had a call out in the morning but were not able to attend, and as it was still there after high tide at 3pm, we were called again.

"It was lifted and relocated. Very feisty! And successfully release at a quieter beach."

If you spot a stranded seal, call BDMLR on 01825 765546.
