Video footage shows the moment a car burst into flames in a street.

Fire crews can be seen attempting to put out the blaze outside Paydens Pharmacy on the corner of New Street and Hawley Street in Margate at 12.05pm on Saturday (March 8).

In the clip, which was shared on social media shortly after 1pm, thick plumes of smoke can be seen coming from a silver Volvo.

Firefighters can also be seen hosing the flames with water as the street fills with smoke.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “One fire engine attended, and crews used a hose reel jet to put out the flames.

“There were no reported injuries and the cause is not yet known, but started while the car was being driven.”

Firefighting efforts stopped at 12.27pm.
